Chapter 4: The External Factor
So far we have discussed the internal factors: goals, identity, values, and beliefs. All of these things affect our current level of congruency. In this chapter, we will discuss the one external factor.
Factor 5: Behavior
Behavior is the most important factor in becoming congruent because it involves that first step to taking all of these ideas of who we want to be and bringing them into reality. Once we transform the ideas into reality, it has become manifested. Behavior is the last factor, and when you take on the behavior relevant to your goal, you have become totally congruent.
Before reading this book, you may have had a problem approaching women due to any of the symptoms of incongruence we have discussed so far. After completing the steps for the internal factors, you should be motivated and eager to start approaching. You may even get nervous by not approaching because our bodies and minds are always seeking something, and when it doesn’t get it, we experience various feelings. The only way to remove the nervousness is by approaching, and once you approach or become that person you have defined in your goals, identities, values and beliefs, you will become congruent with who you are. Congruency is the hidden power of the master pick-up artists. Congruency is the utmost attractive quality in a person.
In the following sections of this chapter you will learn more tips on becoming congruent with your behavior.
The “Shit Test”
There is a term in the pick-up artist community called the "shit test." A shit test involves those things women say or do in order to see how congruent we are. Doesn’t that sound like a topic that should be addressed in this book?
Basically the theory says that women will test men in order to see if they’re the real deal. We all have spurts of confidence, but how many of us are congruently confident?
If a woman puts us down and we lose our confidence—and we show it—that means our confidence doesn’t run deep or it may mean we are just faking it.
We all have heard that confidence is one of the most attractive traits, but women want a man who is confident inside and out, and not just superficially confident.
Now shit tests aren’t just about confidence. A woman may test you on anything you convey or express to her. This goes with body language, allusions, non-verbal communication, and anything you say verbally.
As most of you have already learned by now in other pick-up books, showing disinterest in the beginning of a pick-up is important. If you show disinterest she may test you to see if you are being real. Showing disinterest allows attraction to build, so if she catches you faking disinterest the pick-up will most likely fail. Most pick-up gurus agree that showing disinterest and slowly showing that she is winning you over is the best way to allow attraction to build.
Needless to say, women aren’t consciously out to test you. It’s just a natural behavior we all express in order to get a better understanding of people—to see how real they are.
